Sunshine is a mother, photographer, painter, designer, foodie, gardener, and homebody. She lives and breathes creativity—exploring new avenues and elevating her skills. Her macro flower photography is one of her artistic outlets that brings joy to her life. It began as an experiment in 2006 when she was viewing a flower very close up and noticed amazing textures, shapes, and colors that felt abstract in nature. So with her macro lens, she began photographing flora with the intention to capture nature’s abstract art. For some of the photos, it’s hard to tell what you’re looking at. Is it a painting? Is it a photograph? And what is it? That is what Sunshine is striving for. It’s about perceiving something that it’s not and using imagination to mold it into something beautiful.

“I look at my photographs as pieces of abstract art captured in nature at a precise moment in time. My intent is to capture the flower’s curves, color, and texture while honoring its presence.”

In 2011, seven of her flower photographs were chosen to be a part of The Bellagio Hotel and Casino’s $70 million guest room remodel.

She uses a Nikon D7200 digital SLR with a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 lens.
